Okay, tonight I went to a candlight vigil in support of Cindy Sheehan (the mom whose son was killed in Iraq and who is now sitting outside Dumbya's ranch in Texas). When I saw how much media was there, I asked Patty to bring me a baseball cap from Bruce's ship. Sure enough, I got interviewed by the local ABC news affiliate - the reporter wanted to know my connection to the military.
The vigil was great. We had about 250 people. We stood in silence for 1/2 hour, then we walked down one side of Broadway and up the other.
and I got on the news THREE TIMES!!!
They showed the crowd, with the reporter saying this was Saratoga Springs, Then they showed me saying
"We feel very strongly that this is not a war we need to be in."
Then the reporter said my name and that my hubby was a Navy officer who participated in Operation Desert Fox in 1998, enforcing the no-fly zone. Then reporter said of me "She said she believes supporting Cindy Sheehan is supporting the troops."
Me on camera again (looking fat and sad, with unbrushed hair, oh well):
"We do indeed support the troops and I think that is't incredibly sad that over 2000 men and women have died as a result of this. It's a huge tragedy and it didn't need to happen."
Then they interviewed a Marine Corps dad whose son just got back from Iraq, and the organizer of the Saratoga vigil.
Then, at the end, the showed the crowd at the vigil and you hear me saying:
"I do think it's a true measure of public sentiment. I don't think most people really want this happening."

Nice job! I only wish it would really get to Dumbass and we'd actually pull out of Iraq once and for all...

I never turn on the TV anymore. Too depressing. It takes something like this to get me to pull my head out of my ostritch hole...
